Adonis vernalis (Adon.)

Adonis vernalis (Adon.) appears in 17 rubrics in the repertory. There are no single-remedy rubrics and no small rubrics with at most two other remedies; the data are thin. The rubrics revolve around Discontent, Restlessness, Fear, and a rush of thoughts that prevents sleep.

Unrest and Ill Humor

The basic trait is an ill humor that extends to everything: the repertory records discontent with everything, morose manner, and sadness. To this is added an anxious restlessness and a fear that rises from the stomach. Thoughts crowding in rob sleep. Beside them stand an inner feeling of emptiness, stupefaction, inclination to alcohol, and, as a counterpole, a sense of aesthetics as well as promiscuity.

Summary

No more than a tinge can be read from so few rubrics: a discontented, inwardly restless person whose thoughts do not come to rest and whose emptiness demands stupefaction or stimulation.

All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
