Arsenicum metallicum (Ars‑met.)

Arsenicum metallicum (Ars‑met.) appears in 54 rubrics in the Repertorium. Of these, 5 are single rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and 2 are small rubrics with at most two other remedies. The emphasis is on Delusions and Fear, and also on Anxiety, Mania, Sadness and Stupor. The data are slim, and the picture is correspondingly sketchy: fear and delusion predominate, the threat comes from outside.

Fear and delusion

Fear is the greatest theme. It concerns poisoning, especially at night, and accompanies the Delusions. A single rubric describes people threatening the person while he screams terribly: "Delusions – people, persons – threatening, and he/she screams terribly, which". Another records the feeling of having to run away. Assigned to this remedy alone is the delusion that whiskey and whiskey fumes have gone to her head.

Mind

The mind remains on the verge of despair. The single rubric "Sadness – sleep and never wake up again, wants to" names the wish not to wake again, and stupor occurs in the morning. Mania is also linked with heartache.

Summary

Judging by the thin data, this is a remedy of nocturnal fear and delusion, in which the threat comes from outside and the mind grows weary to the point of wishing for permanent sleep.

All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
