Derris pinnata (Der.)

Derris pinnata (Der.) appears in 54 rubrics in the Repertory. Of these, 8 are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and 2 are small rubrics with no more than two other remedies. The emphasis lies on Fear, Desire to kill and Spitting. It is a narrow but sharply outlined picture.

The Fear of Killing One's Mother

The core lies in an impulse directed against those closest. Listed as single-remedy rubrics are: "Fear, phobia – killing, of – mother, his own", the same fear in connection with fear of death, the desire of children to kill their parents, and the desire of a child to kill the parents. A small rubric names the fear of killing with a knife. One can read this as an aggressive drive that the person himself fears.

Spitting and Vertigo

Two single-remedy rubrics list the desire to spit, after eating and in the morning. The Delusions concern falling when turning to the right or left and the feeling of walking on down. Both describe an unsteady tread in which the ground seems to give way.

Summary

In the Repertory Derris pinnata shows above all a fear of violence directed against the parents, accompanied by bodily insecurity. Because of the small number of rubrics the picture remains narrow.

All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
