Echinacea angustifolia (Echi.)

Echinacea angustifolia (Echi.) appears in 19 rubrics in the Repertory. There are no single-remedy rubrics and no small rubrics with no more than two other remedies; the data are thin. The rubrics revolve around Dullness, Confusion of mind and the aversion to any exertion of thinking.

Dullness and Reluctance

The picture is that of a person whose mind grows heavy. Dullness, stupefaction, confusion and slowness combine with head complaints and sleepiness; in reading the confusion increases. Mental exertion is avoided and aggravates the condition, as do work and thinking itself. Fitting this are sadness in the afternoon and fear, and an irritability toward contradiction, which the person cannot tolerate.

Summary

The few rubrics draw an exhausted, stupefied state in which thinking and work become a burden and contradiction is scarcely endured. The data allow no more than this outline.

All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
