Indium metallicum (Ind.)

Indium metallicum (Ind.) appears in the repertory in 71 rubrics. Of these, six are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and five are small rubrics with no more than two other remedies.

Dullness and sadness

Dullness, with nine rubrics, is the most frequent main rubric; Sadness follows with seven. A single-remedy rubric records sadness when alone, in which the night is spent alone in order to hide the melancholy. Dullness on waking is associated with a nightmare.

Mental exertion and headache

Mental exertion is listed four times. The single-remedy rubrics describe insanity from mental exertion, accompanied by headaches, and studying with headache, in which the person almost goes mad. The inability to fix thoughts and to concentrate is recorded as a single-remedy rubric. Restlessness, Fear, and Irritability follow with four to five rubrics.

Summary

The picture combines dullness and sadness with a mental exertion that turns into headache and incapacity. The single-remedy rubrics are numerous and clearly carry the picture. The small rubrics on sexuality and waking complete it without determining it.

All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
