Indigo tinctoria (Indg.)
Indigo tinctoria (Indg.) appears in the repertory in 72 rubrics. Of these, five are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and two are small rubrics with no more than two other remedies. The most frequent main rubrics are Starting and Startled, Delusions, Raving and Rage, and Weeping, each with four or five rubrics.
Epilepsy and seizure
A substantial part of the single-remedy rubrics is connected with epileptic seizures. Listed are mildness after epileptic convulsions, raving and rage before the seizure, sadness with the epilepsy, and anger before an epileptic seizure. The small rubric on excitability likewise concerns the state before the seizure.
Mind and withdrawal
The mental rubrics show sadness, anger, and aversion to company. A single-remedy rubric describes that the person spends the night alone in order to hide her melancholy: "spends the night alone to hide her/his melancholy". Weeping and grief are frequently represented.
Delusions and starting
The delusions concern, among other things, the idea of having a goiter. Starting on falling asleep and on waking is the most frequent group, with five main rubrics, and forms a physical counterpole to the mental rubrics.
Summary
In the rubrics Indigo tinctoria is characterized above all by references to epilepsy, anger, sadness, and withdrawal into the night. The picture rests on a few single-remedy rubrics and some frequent main rubrics that the remedy shares with many others.
All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
