Repertory › Remedies in the repertory
Jalapa (Jal.)
Jalapa (Jal.) appears in the repertory in 69 rubrics. Of these, two are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and eight are small rubrics with no more than two other remedies.
Children
Children, general, with 38 rubrics, is by far the largest group. The rubrics describe children who are good by day and irritable, restless, and screaming at night. A small rubric sums it up: "irritable all night, all day long". In the morning the children are rested and lively, and diarrhea accompanies the screaming. The rubrics mostly concern sleep.
Screaming, restlessness, and diarrhea
The single-remedy rubrics record restlessness at night with screaming and a quiet manner with diarrhea. Irritability is represented six times, screaming four times, weeping three times. Anguish occurs during stool.
Summary
The picture is determined almost entirely by children's rubrics in which day and night stand opposed: quiet by day, irritable and screaming at night. The diarrhea is the physical companion of this restlessness. The majority of rubrics thus concern a single theme.
All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
