Jatropha curcas (Jatr-c.)

Jatropha curcas (Jatr-c.) appears in the repertory in 51 rubrics. Of these, five are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and two are small rubrics with no more than two other remedies.

Anxiety and fear

Anxiety is the most frequent main rubric, with eight rubrics; Fear follows with six. The single-remedy rubrics link anxiety with burning in the stomach and coldness of the body, and with chorea in which cramps in the calves set in. A small rubric reads: "Cramp in calves, as if a cramp would set in". Another single-remedy rubric records fear of drinking, associated with nausea.

Irritability and delirium

Irritability and Irritable account for five rubrics, Screaming, shrieking, and calling for three. Delirium is represented three times; a single-remedy rubric names vertigo as an addition in the sense of "after". Tranquility is disturbed, and quickly.

Summary

The picture is determined by anxiety and defensiveness, which show themselves in cramps, fear, and irritability. Composure is noted in a single-remedy rubric but remains the weaker line beside the anxiety.

All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
