Kalium chloricum (Kali‑chl.)
Kalium chloricum (Kali‑chl.) appears in 86 rubrics in the Repertory. Of these, 7 are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and 5 are small rubrics with at most two other remedies. The emphasis lies on Anxiety, Indifference, Sadness and Delirium. It is striking how many of the special rubrics are tied to a single bodily event: epistaxis.
Relief through blood
The core lies in a relief. Hypochondriasis, morose mood and anxiety are ameliorated by epistaxis, as are mental symptoms in general, and amelioration by blowing the nose is listed separately. The alternation between cheerfulness and sadness is linked in two single-remedy rubrics with the congestion that resolves in epistaxis. One can read from this that the psychic pressure is tied to the rush of blood and falls away with it.
Intoxication and pain
A second group concerns stupefaction and intoxication: unconsciousness after wine, stupefaction from beer. In addition there are screaming with pain in the abdomen and the wish to die that appears during chill.
Summary
In the Repertory, Kalium chloricum shows a mind that seems dependent on plethora and discharge. Tension, melancholy and anxiety are resolved in bleeding, while alcohol quickly leads to stupefaction.
All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
