Lac caprinum (Lac-cp.)
Lac caprinum (Lac-cp.) appears in 85 rubrics in the Repertory. Of these, 8 are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and 2 are small rubrics with at most two other remedies. The emphasis lies on Fear and Anger, as well as Clinging, Restlessness, Sadness and Company. The picture shows a person whose anger can hardly be controlled and whose fear concerns the heart and the family.
Anger and clinging
Anger is the most frequent rubric of the remedy. Only here does it appear as "Anger – uncontrollable, cannot be controlled", and it is ameliorated by lying down. A contradiction is linked with it: the person clings to others, and does so even when angry. Closeness is sought and at the same time answered with annoyance.
Fear for the heart and family
The fear is directed at the heart: that it will stop beating or stand still, in each case from a fright. The anxiety concerns the family and is alleviated by occupation. These anxieties are listed as single-remedy rubrics, so they belong to the distinguishing traits. One can see in this a worry that works its way from threat to threat and comes to rest only in activity.
Sadness and withdrawal
The sadness carries the feeling of being doomed. Alongside stand an anxious restlessness in the late afternoon, an aversion to company during headache, and the delusion that others are talking about the person.
Summary
Anger and attachment, fear and a sense of doom stand side by side in the Repertory. The picture is that of a person who wants to be bound but does not control himself in the bond and whose fears extend into the body and into the family.
All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
