Lac leonis (Lac‑leo.)

Lac leonis (Lac‑leo.) appears in 172 rubrics in the Repertory. Of these, 16 are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and 12 are small rubrics with at most two other remedies. The emphasis of the specific rubrics lies on Sensitivity, Delusions, Anxiety and Singing, as well as on Group, Company and Truthfulness. From these emerges the picture of a person who wants to hold a group together, feels vulnerable within it, and becomes brusque in conflicts.

The group

The center is belonging. Two single-remedy rubrics name the wish to hold the group together, and one the feeling of being forsaken by friends or the group. Linked with this is the desire for company, but also a sharpness toward those who belong: the person can be merciless toward friends and answers rudely, indeed cannot be polite. Toward children, by contrast, the Repertory records a benevolence of its own.

Sensitivity

The person takes in a great deal. Recorded are sensitivity to the inner nature of people, to emotions, to nature and its objects, as well as concern for nature and a sensitivity to the honesty of others. The small rubric "Insightful – full of insight" completes the picture. Only Lac leonis lists an animal consciousness and the feeling of becoming one with animals.

Oppression and lightness

The delusions are ambivalent. Everyone is against the person and opposes her, she is hindered by everyone; against this stands the idea of being so light that she could float. The anxiety concerns the future and occurs on waking, also from terrible dreams. Laughter can be sad, weeping comes because the person could not sleep. Singing occurs in the morning and on waking.

Summary

Lac leonis shows in the Repertory a person with a strong group feeling and a fine sense for authenticity, who is easily offended and answers gruffly in self-defense. The rubrics suggest that closeness to nature and to animals forms a counterweight to this social tension.

All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
