Plantago minor (Plan.)

Plantago minor (Plan.) appears in 95 rubrics in the Repertory. Of these, five are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy appears, and three are small rubrics with at most two other remedies. The most frequent main rubrics are Restlessness with ten rubrics, Irritability with eight, and Anxiety, Hurry and Anguish with four each.

Restlessness and impatience

Restlessness is the central theme. Two small rubrics describe walking back and forth and walking up and down. Impatience is recorded in two rubrics, one of them in connection with a feeling of stupefaction in the brain before an apoplectic stroke.

Anxiety and night

The anguish occurs at night, after 1 a.m., and is connected in a single-remedy rubric with midnight. Anxiety and Hurry are each represented with four main rubrics.

Thinking and exhaustion

The rubrics on meditation and reflection concern excessive exhaustion. Sadness is recorded as a consequence of tobacco abuse. A single-remedy rubric describes the feeling that the room is narrow and hot.

Summary

Plantago minor shows in the rubrics a picture of restlessness, irritability and nocturnal anxiety. Restlessness is the strongest group; the single-remedy rubrics concern impatience, exhaustion and the feeling of spatial constriction.

All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
