Viscum album (Visc.)
Viscum album (Visc.) appears in 117 rubrics in the Repertory. Of these, 6 are single-remedy rubrics in which only this remedy is listed, and 3 are small rubrics with at most two other remedies. The emphasis lies on Delusions and Fear, as well as Thoughts, Aversion and Unconsciousness. The data are slim.
Floating, sleep and terror
The Delusions lead into the space between waking and sleep: figures in slumber, the feeling of sleeping deeply, the upper body floating in the air. Against this stands fear of one's own doing: "Delusions – do, to – terrible things, trembling, he/she will do something". At night, terrible thoughts come on waking, and the brain seems to contract.
Small aversions
The single-remedy rubric "Aversion – medicine bottle, at the sight of" is unusual. Equally peculiar are irritability with pains in the chest and fear of the telephone.
Summary
In the Repertory, Viscum album shows a mind that hovers between sleep and waking and to which its own deeds become uncanny. The few specific rubrics keep the picture deliberately narrow.
All rubrics of this remedy, the materia medica and the case work are in Rathmer’s Repertory.
